Honor Grad

Today bright and early we went to Lackland AFB to watch Dustin graduate! We arrived at 7 am for event briefings. At 8 the Airman's Run started. This was a mile and half run in which all the airmen ran in formation while singing. This was pretty cool and my first glimpse of him! He has absolutely no hair!
After this we waited around until 11 for the Coin Ceremony to begin. This was a ceremony in which all the airmen stood in formation with their flight. They were dresses in their "blues". For tomorrow's graduation parade, they will have all the stripes sewn on their shirts, since they are now officially promoted from trainees to Airmen! They were handed an Air Force coin which is symbolic for many reason, I don't know the reasons! They are to carry this coin in their pocket at all times. He also has a coin from his squadron. After the ceremony they were released to greet their family. He could not move out of his "military bearing" until I was right next to him! So good to hug him again!
After the Coin Ceremony we had a special ceremony to attend for Honor Grads! As I had said before, he was so close that he didn't know if he'd make it! Well he did! I'm so proud of him! Not only does this mean that he passed all of the physical tests, but he also passed all the academic tests and was recommended by his TI because he showed strong leadership skills! What an honor! He got another coin for his pocket and gets a special ribbon for his shirt. He also earned a town pass for Sunday so we will get to go somewhere instead of hung around on base! Did I mention that I was proud of him!
He received his job orders last week. Praise the Lord...he got the job that he really wanted! It is called Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory. In a nutshell, he will be inspecting, aligning, and troubleshooting common and weapon systems. To be honest...it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either, but he's happy! He will fly out Monday, July 5th at 1 am for Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. They told him when he received his orders that I would move out 3 weeks from Monday. They would put us in off-base housing and he will be able to live with me! I'm trying to not get too excited about 3 weeks...I'll believe it when I have it in writing!
Otherwise, he looks good and is in good spirits. He seems very happy about his decision, his job, and just happy in general! He has lost just under 20 pounds and 6 inches off his waist...yes 6!
Tomorrow is the Graduation Parade and then a tour of his dorm. It will be interesting to see where he has been living for the last 2 months! After that he gets to go out on the town with us for Thrusday afternoon, and all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!
The internet at our hotel is down right now so I am writing from the "Business Center". I can't post any pictures because of this. I'll post as soon as they have it fixed!
Thank you for your support and prayers this far! Please pray for safe travel as we all go home. Dustin's dad and step-mom will be leaving for home Friday morning, his mom is leaving Saturday morning. My parents and I will leave for our long drive early Monday morning. Dustin flies out on Monday morning as well.
